Day traders do not usually trade because of news releases, but they need to know when the news is going to be released, because many markets react to news releases in undesirable ways (such as very quick, large moves, in both directions). If you would like to know more about fundamentals compared to technical analysis, further information is available in the Fundamental or Technical Analysis article.
