Economic Calendar

This week's economic calendar has several news releases from the US, and a couple of news releases from Europe and Asia. The US, European, and Asian news releases for this week are as follows (all times are Greenwich Mean Time) :

US

• Monday : Retail Sales at 12:30 PM, Business Inventories at 2:00 PM
• Tuesday : Producer Price Index and Trade Balance at 12:30 PM
• Wednesday : Consumer Price Index at 12:30 PM, and Capacity Utilization and Industrial Production at 1:15 PM
• Thursday : Building Permits, Housing Starts, and Initial Claims at 12:30 PM, and Manufacturing Survey at 4:00 PM
• Friday : Consumer Sentiment Index at 2:00 PM

Europe

• Monday : UK Producer Price Index at 8:30 AM, and UK Leading Indicator Index at 2:30 PM
• Tuesday : Germany Gross Domestic Product at 06:00 AM, and EU Gross Domestic Product at 9:00 AM

Asia

• Sunday : Japan Gross Domestic Product at 11:50 AM

Day traders do not usually trade because of news releases, but they need to know when the news is going to be released, because many markets react to news releases in undesirable ways (such as very quick, large moves, in both directions).
