European and Asian Markets' New Year Holiday Schedules

By , About.com GuideDecember 26, 2007

Continuing the holiday schedules with the European and Asian New Year holidays. As with the Christmas holidays, the European and Asian holiday schedule is slightly less complicated than the US holiday schedule, but there are still some irregular trading hours (only for Euronext markets). The European and Asian New Year holiday schedules are as follows :

December 31st

  • DTB / Eurex Markets : Closed
  • Euronext (Monep, LIFFE, etc.) Markets : Close at 1:00 PM Central European Time

January 1st

  • DTB / Eurex Markets : Closed
  • Euronext (Monep, LIFFE, etc.) Markets : Closed
  • HKEX (HKFE, etc.) Markets : Closed

January 2nd

  • DTB / Eurex Markets : Open, except for Swiss markets which are closed

As with the US markets, from January 2nd onwards, both the trading hours and trading amount (number of traders, volume, etc.) will be back to normal, so any target or contract / share size adjustments that were made to trading systems during the holidays can be removed.
