Economic Calendar With Volatility

There are a few news releases from each region (the US, Europe, and Asia) this week. The US has most of the high volatility news releases, so the US markets may experience the highest volatility, but there are enough European and Asian news releases to keep the European and Asian markets active. Remember that non financial news releases can also affect the markets, so any significant non financial news from the US, Europe, or Asia, could also cause high volatility and unexpected price movement.

The US, European, and Asian news releases for this week are as follows (all times are Greenwich Mean Time, which is 2 hours behind Central European Time, and 4 hours ahead of US Eastern Time) :

US

  • Monday : No news releases
  • Tuesday : HPI Composite at 1:00 PM, and Consumer Confidence, House Price Index, and Fed Index at 2:00 PM
  • Wednesday : Durable Goods Orders at 12:30 PM, New Homes Sales at 2:00 PM, Oil Inventories at 2:30 PM, and FOMC Statement, and Funds Rate at 6:15 PM
  • Thursday : GDP, and Initial Claims at 12:30 PM, Existing Home Sales at 2:00 PM, and Natural Gas Storage at 2:30 PM
  • Friday : PCE Price Index, Personal Spending, and Personal Income at 12:30 PM, and Michigan Sentiment at 1:55 PM

  • This week's US news releases that should cause high volatility are shown in bold type. There are a few high volatility news releases in the middle of the week, so the US markets should experience some significant price movment this week.

Europe

  • Monday : Germany PMI Services, and PMI Manufacturing at 7:30 AM, and Germany Business Climate, Business Expectations, and EU PMI Manufacturing, and PMI Services at 8:00 AM
  • Tuesday : Germany Consumer Confidence at 6:00 AM, France Consumer Spending at 6:45 AM, Switzerland Consumption Indicator at 8:00 AM, and UK Mortgage Approvals at 8:30 AM
  • Wednesday : Germany CPI at ??:?? ?? (Unknown time), Italy Retail Sales at 8:00 AM, EU Central Bank News Conference at ??:?? ?? (Unknown time), and UK Distributive Trades at 10:00 AM
  • Thursday : Germany Import Price Index at 6:00 AM, EU Money Supply at 8:00 AM, UK Business Investment at 8:30 AM, and UK Treasury Hearings at 8:45 AM
  • Friday : EU Current Account at 8:00 AM, UK Current Account, and GDP at 8:30 AM, EU Consumer Confidence at 9:00 AM, Switzerland Leading Index at 9:30 AM, and EU Central Bank News Conference at 4:30 PM

  • This week's European news releases that should cause high volatility are shown in bold type. There are a couple of high volatility news releases from Europe this week, so the European markets should experience some significant price movement at some point during the week.

Asia

  • Monday : Australia New Vehicle Sales at 1:30 AM, and New Zealand Credit Card Spending at 3:00 AM
  • Tuesday : Japan Trade Balance, and CSPI at 11:50 PM
  • Wednesday : New Zealand Current Account at 10:45 PM
  • Thursday : Australia Leading Index at 12:00 AM, New Zealand GDP, and Trade Balance at 10:45 PM, Japan CPI, Household Spending, and Unemployment Rate at 11:30 PM, and Japan Industrial Production, and Retail Sales at 11:50 PM
  • Friday : No news releases

  • This week's Asian news releases that should cause high volatility are shown in bold type. There are a couple of high volatility news release from Asia in the middle of the week, so the Asian markets should experience some significant price movement at some point during the week.
