Decisiveness, Yes ... Stubbornness, No

Monday June 23, 2008

Professional traders know that successful day trading is as much about psychology as it is about markets and trading systems, and they spend a lot of time practicing controlling their emotions and any negative personality traits. One personality trait that will be detrimental to any trader's profitability is stubbornness. Day traders need to be decisive in order to make their trading decisions promptly, and act on their decisions without any hesitation, but they also need to be flexible enough to recognize and accept when a decision was incorrect.

If you are a stubborn person in the rest of your life, it is probable that you will be a stubborn trader, and you will need to be aware of this, so that you can remove this personality trait (or at least control it). The information and suggestions in Recognizing and Overcoming Stubbornness may help you turn your stubbornness into decisiveness, which will be a big step towards being a successful day trader.
