Economic Calendar With Volatility

This week's economic calendar includes approximately the same amount of news releases from Europe, the US, and Asia. The US has most of the high volatility news releases this week, followed by Asia, and then Europe (with only two high volatility news releases). Even so, markets from all three regions will probably experience some significant volatility this week.

The US, European, and Asian news releases for this week are as follows (all times are Greenwich Mean Time, which is 2 hours behind Central European Time, and 4 hours ahead of US Eastern Time) :

US

  • Monday : Existing Home Sales at 2:00 PM
  • Tuesday : Consumer Confidence Index, New Home Sales, HPI, and Manufacturing Index at 2:00 PM, and FOMC Meeting at 6:00 PM
  • Wednesday : Durable Goods Orders at 12:30 PM, and Oil Inventories at 2:35 PM
  • Thursday : GDP, and Unemployment Claims at 12:30 PM, and Natural Gas Storage at 2:35 PM
  • Friday : Price Index, Personal Spending, and Personal Income at 12:30 PM, PMI at 1:45 PM, and Consumer Sentiment, and Inflation Expectations at 1:55 PM

  • This week's US news releases that should cause high volatility are shown in bold type. There are several US news releases this week, and high volatility news releases every day except Friday, so the US markets should experience some decent volatility this week.

Europe

  • Monday : Germany Import Prices at 6:00 AM
  • Tuesday : Germany Consumer Confidence, and GDP at 6:00 AM, Switzerland Consumption Indicator, Germany Business Climate, and Expectations at 8:00 AM, and UK Mortgage Approvals at 8:30 AM
  • Wednesday : Germany CPI at ??:?? ?? (Unknown Time), and Switzerland News Conference at 3:30 PM
  • Thursday : UK HPI at 6:00 AM, Switzerland Employment Level at 7:15 AM, Germany Unemployment Change at 7:55 AM, EU Money Supply at 8:00 AM, EU Consumer Confidence at 9:00 AM, UK Distributive Trades at 10:00 AM, and UK Consumer Confidence at 11:01 PM
  • Friday : Italy Retail Sales at 8:00 AM, EU CPI, Italy CPI, and EU Unemployment Rate at 9:00 AM, and Switzerland Leading Index at 9:30 AM

  • This week's European news releases that should cause high volatility are shown in bold type. There is an average amount of European news releases this week, but only two high volatility news releases. Even so, the EU markets should experience some decent volatility this week.

Asia

  • Monday : Japan Central Bank News Conference at 6:00 AM, New Zealand Trade Balance at 10:45 PM, and Japan CSPI at 11:50 PM
  • Tuesday : New Zealand Inflation Expectations at 3:00 AM
  • Wednesday : Australia Construction Work at 1:30 AM, and New Zealand Business Confidence at 3:00 AM
  • Thursday : Australia Leading Index at 12:00 AM, Australia New Capital Expenditure at 1:30 AM, New Zealand Building Consents at 10:45 PM, Japan PMI Manufacturing at 11:15 PM, Japan CPI, Household Spending, and Unemployment Rate at 11:30 PM, and Japan Industrial Production, and Retail Sales at 11:50 PM
  • Friday : Australia Private Sector Credit at 1:30 AM, and Japan Housing Starts at 5:00 AM

  • This week's Asian news releases that should cause high volatility are shown in bold type. There are several Asian news releases this week, and a few high volatility news releases, so the Asian markets should experience some decent volatility this week.
