Economic Calendar With Volatility

Monday October 6, 2008

This week's economic calendar includes many news releases from Europe and Asia, and several news releases from the US. However, the US and Asia have most of the high volatility news releases this week, followed by Europe with only a few high volatility news releases. Markets from all three regions (US, Europe, and Asia) will probably experience some significant price movement throughout the week. Whichever markets you trade, be aware of the current market manipulation, and trade accordingly (read carefully or not at all).

The US, European, and Asian news releases for this week are as follows (all times are Greenwich Mean Time, which is 2 hours behind Central European Time, and 4 hours ahead of US Eastern Time) :

US

  • Monday : FOMC News Conference at 5:30 PM
  • Tuesday : FOMC News Conference at 3:00 PM, Central Bank News Conference at 5:15 PM, FOMC Meeting at 6:00 PM, and Consumer Credit at 7:00 PM
  • Wednesday : FOMC News Conference at 11:45 AM, Pending Home Sales at 2:00 PM, and Oil Inventories at 2:35 PM
  • Thursday : Unemployment Claims at 12:30 PM, Wholesale Inventories at 2:00 PM, Natural Gas Storage at 2:35 PM, and FOMC News Conference at 5:30 PM
  • Friday : Trade Balance, and Import Prices at 12:30 PM, and Budget Balance at 6:00 PM

  • This week's US news releases that should cause high volatility are shown in bold type. There are only a few US news releases this week, and they are mostly FOMC and Central Bank news conferences. There are several high volatility news releases, so the US markets will probably continue experiencing significant price movement this week. However, with all of the current market interference, the price movement will not be completely natural, so be careful.

Europe

  • Monday : EU Investor Confidence at 8:30 AM, and UK GDP at 11:01 PM
  • Tuesday : UK HPI at ??:?? ?? (Unknown Time), UK Manufacturing Production, and Industrial Production at 8:30 AM, Germany Factory Orders at 10:00 AM, EU Central Bank News Conference at 1:30 PM, and UK Consumer Confidence at 11:01 PM

  • Friday : Switzerland Unemployment Rate at 5:45 AM, France Industrial Production at 6:45 AM, and Italy Industrial Production at 8:00 AM

  • This week's European news releases that should cause high volatility are shown in bold type. There are several European news releases this week, but only a few high volatility news releases. Even so, the EU markets will probably continue experiencing significant price movement this week. However, with the continuing market interference, the price movement will not be completely natural (especially the UK markets), so exercise caution.

  • This week's Asian news releases that should cause high volatility are shown in bold type. There are several Asian news releases this week, and several high volatility news releases. The Asian markets should experience their usual high volatility, and associated significant price movement, this week.
