IQFeed is a market data service, that provides real time and historical market data to day traders. IQFeed is not a brokerage, so a trading account is not required, and their market data is available to all day traders, regardless of the brokerage being used.
Available Markets
IQFeed offers real time and historical market data for all US exchanges, a few European exchanges, but no Asian exchanges. For the exchanges that they do offer, their markets include futures markets, options markets, and stock markets. IQFeed's market data is organized by exchange, so once a trader has subscribed to a particular exchange, they will have access to all of the market data for that exchange. Some of the most popular exchanges that IQFeed offers, and the type of markets available, are as follows :
US Exchanges
- CBOT - Futures, and Options
- CME - Futures, and Options
- NYSE - Stocks, Indices, and ETFs
- NASDAQ - Stocks, Indices, and ETFs

Market Data Interface
IQFeed's market data feed is received via their IQFeed API (programming interface), which supports both TCP/IP (sockets), and DDE (Excel). The API consists of several interface programs and a communication protocol (rather than a programming library), and can therefore be used with any programming language (C/C++, Java, etc.). The API enables market data to be used by independant charting software. Further information regarding the IQFeed API can be found at IQFeed's developer web site.
