When you are ready to make your first trade, either in simulation or live, you can use the following step by step tutorial to guide you through the process. The tutorial includes all of the steps involved, and shows a real trade on the YM futures market, using the zero line cross trading system. The contract specifications used in the tutorial are as follows :
- Symbol : YM
- Expiration Date : March 2007
- Exchange : ECBOT
- Tick Size : 1
- Tick Value : $5
The brokerage that is used in the tutorial is Interactive Brokers (IB), and therefore the trading software is Trader Workstation (TWS). If this is the first time that you will use TWS, or you have not yet configured it for trading, you can find additional information in the TWS documentation. The charting software that is used is Sierra Chart. If this is the first time that you will use Sierra Chart, or you have not yet configured Sierra Chart, additional information is available in the Sierra Chart documentation and video tutorials.
Please note that if you are trading a different market, or a different trading system, or are using a different brokerage, or different charting software, you can still use the following tutorial, but you will need to adjust some of the steps slightly.
